What is SHINE SA? What do they offer? Where are they based? 

SHINE SA (Sexual Health Information, Networking and Education South Australia) is a not-for-profit organisation that provides sexual and reproductive health services, education and support to people across South Australia. It has been operating since 1970 and aims to improve sexual health and relationship wellbeing for everyone.

Some of the services SHINE SA offers include:

  • Sexual health check-ups and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood-borne viruses, including HIV testing.
  • Contraception services, including emergency contraception, IUDs and implants.
  • Pregnancy testing, counselling and referrals.
  • Sexual health and relationship counselling.
  • Gender and sexuality support services.
  • Information and advice about safer sex and reproductive health.
  • Free and confidential telephone support through the Sexual Healthline.
  • Education and training programs for schools, healthcare workers and community organisations.

SHINE SA also provides specialist services for young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities and those living in rural and regional areas.

They have clinics in Adelaide, Woodville and Davoren Park, and many appointments are bulk-billed for Medicare card holders.
